Hilo High sophomore Devin Chu performed on the Palace Theatre’s giant pipe organ on November 2nd. He played the Prelude and Fugue in G Minor by Johann Sebastian Bach preceding the screening of the 1922 silent horror movie “Nosferatu”.
Devin has been studying organ for two years with Rick Mazurowski under a scholarship awarded by the Hawaii chapter of the American Guild of Organists. He has previously performed for the dedication of the new organ at Church of the Holy Cross, studies piano with Kayleen Yuda and plays trombone in his school band.
"Devin is a perfect representative of a new generation of gifted musicians", says Palace Board President "Quack" Moore. "Young artists like Devin ensure a bright new future for the performing arts, and we are especially pleased to have him here at the Palace playing the historic pipe organ".
