April 2005
As of April 2005, volunteers have been working hard for several months to get the Palace organ back in shape.  In the stage left Main chamber, three new ranks have been winded and wired in.  The Tuba Horn, Post Horn and Clarinet have been added to the originally working Tibia, Flute and Diapason.

A new console platform has been built on Stage Right.  The temporary two manual Wurlitzer console has been moved there to control the organ while the four manual Robert-Morton console is being rebuilt..

Meanwhile.....in the stage right Solo Chamber............
Left: The stage right Solo chamber was repaired and restored to its original function.  In the 1940s this room had been converted into an apartment with a kitchen, bathroom and shower.  Volunteers demolished partitions and cabinets, then patched exterior wall where windows had been installed.
Above left: The swell opening had been walled in.  Panelling was removed, the walls patched and painted.  The former Waikiki solo chamber swell shade frame (Above Right) fit perfectly in the Palace chamber.

Ron Creager & Rick Mazurowski are dwarfed by the 16' Tuba basses.
A hole had to be cut into the chamber ceiling to allow erection of the lowest 16' Tuba pipes.

Right: Mike Kingston works on patching the outer wall where a new steel truss, for  seismic strengthening, had been added in the mid-1990s.  Although this truss cuts through the chamber, it does not interfere with the installation.  For patching the walls, 1940 vintage tongue-and-groove planks were salvaged from the demolished apartment partitions to match the original wall planking.
